Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing the last month or so have been very very productive both morning and afternoon, there has been a very good bite trolling the reef for kingfish as well as bonito barracuda and also some wahoos mixed in. The offshore bite has been also very good early in the mornings, this is the time of year where we start getting very big blackfin tuna around the 25lb range. If we have a few days of wind the dolphin bite has been exceptional there has been a lot of bigger fish around in the 25lb class up to 40lb dolphin around.
Shark fishing has continued to be excellent with some very big trophy size sharks around including hammerheads, tigers and some rare thresher sharks also, we recently caught a very nice size thresher of 170in long what a monster.
As for night fishing the yellowtail snapper bite remains good as long as you have some current the bigger fish averaging 1-2lbs are around this time of year and are a lot of fun on light tackle, a few mangrove snappers in the 5lb range have been biting as well at night. I would expect the spawn to be happening really soon with the mangrove snappers.
anyways as always summer time is action packed so lets get out there and catch some fish, some recent pictures here of what we been catching....more later
