Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We're having an awesome few weeks of wahoo fishing in Fort Lauderdale this January. The past few weeks have been phenomenal wahoo fishing. February is always the best month of the year for wahoo fishing, so watch for continued if not even better wahoo fishing over the next few weeks.
30-40 pound wahoos are biting anywhere from 80ft of water on the reef, out to 600ft of water 5 miles offshore. They are pretty much everywhere, you just have to troll around and cover as much territory as you can. Wahoo make territory coverage easy because they absolutely LOVE fast moving baits. Just when you think you're trolling too fast to catch anything, go a little faster and you'll be at the right speed to catch wahoo.

We're getting out bites on the deep baits and the surface baits, so remember to fish wire leaders on everything. A lot of times, when you get a bite on a wahoo, you're actually trolling through a pack of wahoo and if you have the right gear out, every line in your spread can get hit.
Sailfish action is also very good this week. Sailfish are biting decently on the troll, but definitetly best on the kites with live goggle eyes. Jan and Feb are the last 2 months of really awesome sailfishing in Fort Lauderdale. Sailfish action is pretty good throughout the Spring months, but you don't get the numbers you can get these months when the cold weather is moving through. I just read a weather report that said this week is going to be cool weather. The sailfish are going to go off, so get out fishing over the next few days if you want to catch multiple sails. Good luck fishing everybody and Tight Lines!

Fort Lauderdale Fishing Forecast:

I just read a weather report that said this week for the next 7-8 days will have temperatures in the 50-70's. That is the most perfect sailfish weather there is, so let's go fishing!!!!
