Hot Springtime Fishing

Capt. Mario Cote
April 7, 2016
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We've been fishing the Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood area on our new boat and fishing has been really good. First, I'd like to say that we're very excited about the new boat and we want to say thanks to Andros Boatworks for building us a boat to our specifications and all the details they put for building us the best riding boat on the water!! It's rigged with twin 300 HP Evinrude E-Tec G2s - they give us all the power we need and the best fuel economy. The boat is well equipped with Garmin electronics and a full electric head.

Now let's talk about fishing. March and April are usually a very good months and the last 2 weeks has been really good for us. We've had a lots of nice customers which included families visiting from Canada, Europe and the U.S. Everybody who joined us for a trip caught fish and had a great time!!

We caught a variety of species including sailfish, mahi, mutton snapper, amberjack, tuna and shark. The majority of our best action was in between 90 ' to 110', between Port Everglades Inlet and Hallandale. The kingfish bite has been outstanding on most of the trips. Everyone has had a blast reeling in these fighters - the larger ones have gone as high as 30 lbs. The excitement was also very special for our customers watching the kingfish skyrocket our goggle eyes on the kite. Some trips the bite was only on our deep- or mid-baits, so we put our effort just on that tactic and some trips they really liked our big google eye and other days the bite was only on pilchard. We're glad we had different type of baits on each trip. Overall, fishing was really good and should remain very good for the following month to come. So, let's go catch fish and have a good time together!!
