Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We caught a huge Big Eyed Thresher Shark on our shark fishing charter aboard the New Lattitude. The shark fishing this year out of Fort Lauderdale has been absolutely insane. We've caught a lot of the rarest sharks in the ocean this year including the Big Eyed Thresher Shark, Makos, Tiger Sharks and more. On this trip, we went out and put the fishing kites up, hoping for a sailfish hit. Just for fun, we thought we'd put a shark bait down on the bottom just in case a sea monster swam by. As luck would have it, a gigantic shark came up and took the bait. We knew it was a shark but we didn't know it was a thresher shark until we got it close to the boat after a 2 hour long fight. The angler stayed strong and fought the fish all the way to the boat himself, never giving up. That's a tall feet with a 14 foot long thresher shark on the line. What a fish, we got him up to the boat, measurements for the trophy and then released him to be caught another day. It was an epic fight, an epic day and an epic fish. Make sure to check out and LIKE our facebook page, www.facebook.com/NewLattitudeSportfishing to see the video of us catching this sea monster.
There are some sea monsters out there to be caught, you just have to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right bait out there. And don't forget to use heavy tackle. If this fish was caught on anything lighter than what we caught him on (a Penn 130 International), we would still be out there fighting him. Good luck to everyone fishing this month. I'll sea ya out there.
