Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

If our first ten days of June are an indication of the summertime bite here on fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale along the reef line then we shouldn't incur too many days where locating fish and getting them to bite would be a concern. The reef bite has been continually phenomenal for decent sized keeper Kings. Nice Tunas in the mix. There have been good numbers of Bonito here and they are great fun, especially for the younger set. They pull and then pull some more and their numbers this early in the summer are above average. Caught some really nice Kings, Mahi and Bonito two days ago and much of the conversation from our anglers was about the amazing strength of the Bonito. Plenty of good eating fish are available here, the Bonito isn't in that grouping, but they bring the horsepower to every hook up.

Expect some Sailfish activity throughout the month with most found on or near the reefs, but they are prone to wander further offshore as well this time of year. Always a chance for Wahoo and there will be Grouper ( limited numbers), Amberjacks and snappers on wrecks and structure.

June will be warm to hot. Actually June is already warm to hot. Maybe we should spell hot with a double t. Hott. Expect some rain, mostly quickly moving showers. Fully air conditioned with sheltered leather seating inside our cabin to take a break from that sun or that shower. Parkas supplied by us if a shower finds us.

And bring the kids. Summer is a great time to bring the kids fishing with you. Winter often offers chances at larger fish, but this time of year typically offers far more action. And there are still large fish available. Many summer days offer comfortable sea conditions. All our pictures with this forecast are of young anglers who have joined us here aboard the Marlin My Darlin. Summer is for kids of all ages.
See you offshore, Captain Rick
