Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Danelle Brown, along with her husband, Bobby, two sons, Tyler and Travis and daughter, Jamie from Texas vacationing here in Fort Lauderdale did her research on Trip Advisor and found that Top Shot Fishing was ranked 3rd our of 91 attractions in the City of Fort Lauderdale, so she called up and reserved the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL.

We had a gentle breeze out of the east at 7mph with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 80's. With 34 artificial wrecks here in Fort Lauderdale FL, ranging from 65 ft. in depth out to 420 ft. makes an inviting habitat for bait fish and in return the predators are not too far behind.

With a strong current going to the north at 4 knots, it was very difficult to do any wreck fishing so our plan today was to do some trolling over the wrecks. We put two plainers down, both with double hook Bonito strips, one with a black and purple sea witch and the other with a pink and white double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two naked Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips with sea witches in front. I trolled from one wreck to the other catching 5 Bonitos ranging between 10-18 lbs., two Barracudas and three Kingfish, one of them being an Anaconda Kingfish weighing in at 29 lbs. Each family member took turns reeling in the fish with the majority being caught between Tyler, Travis and Jamie with Dad's help, while mother Danelle was the official photographer and record keeper.

With happy smiles on all their faces, the Brown family retired to the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
