Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had a two boat Corporate charter fish off! HSHC out of Connecticut Chartered us and one of our competitors. We started fishing around 2:30pm and a lot of boats were catching some kingfish south of the inlet. There was about a knot of current heading south with a 5 mile an hour south wind. It was kind of crowded south of the inlet so we headed north. There was a few ships north and we got no bites around the first one and the second one in 150 feet of water got us a nice bite but the fish fell off rather quickly. We circled the ship again and got a bite which turned up to be a baby barracuda. We let him go to fight another day. Then coast guard rode up on us and asked us to move 500 yards from the area around the ship we finally got the bite at for chemical reasons. What can you do but listen to them. The bite turned off down south and all the fishing boats were heading north towards us. We decided to head down south to where they had left. We got a bit south of the cranes and it was fish on! We caught 9 kingfish and 1 bonito in a span of an hour and a half! Tight Work!

Captain Kunta cut up five of the kingfish on the way in for the guys since they were pressed for time to get to the Cabana to meet up with the others. We won the competition thanks to Captain Kunta and his hard work in the pit! For fishing information or tips for when you get out there call 954-638-6353.
