Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We headed out after lunch right when the little trickle of ran stopped. Our afternoon charter had already chartered us before and were back for more! We were dealing with a little bit of an overcast here and there nothing to threatening the whole trip. This group of guys were a joy to entertain! We had some great reel in time with a catch consisting of 9 kingfish!

Our charterers were very happy with their catch and thanked Captain Kunta and the Danimal immensely.

Our evening trip was a little more special then usual. We had a husband and wife from Connecticut spending their last few days together before husband ships out to Afghanistan. He's already pulled 2 previous tours and this will be his third. God be with him. They have 4 children together. Back to fishing. Captain Kunta asked our soldier if he'd like to take a whack at some wreck fishing and wife and husband agreed. It took a little bit of time but sure enough we finally seen the drop rod bend like crazy and wife went to reeling up the mystery fish! It took about twenty minutes and the fish was almost high enough to see what it was that she had been reeling up this whole time and then the fish broke loose from the drop rods hook. Too bad! It looked like a good one. We then decided to switch up and do some trolling. Wife went to go use the bathroom about 20 minutes into the troll and what do you know fish on on the long! Husband wanted his wife to take another whack at it but she was in the bathroom so he went to reeling and next thing you know up come a jumping and a skating non other then a beautiful sailfish! He fought that sailfish watching it dive and jump and skate over and over again for a solid 30 minutes before we got him to the boat. Danimal the animal handled the sailfish into the cockpit like a champ to give the couple an up close look and touch session before letting it go to battle us another day.

What a great day of fishing for both trips. We loved both charters today and look forward to seeing them again in the future. For fishing information or tips for when you go out there call 954-638-6353.
