Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Friday morning we chartered out with Pat from New York. Water was still dirty. We headed north out the inlet with a little north current and ka-plow! We caught about 40 spanish mac's in about 30 minutes! Nothing but doubles and triples over and over again! then we continued to head north and we caught a nice gaffer kingfish. after that we tried a few wrecks hoping a nice grouper would come on but no luck even though we tried 6 or 7 wrecks. It was time to start heading back to the dock and we high speed trolled in shallow and a quarter mile from the inlet it was fish on! Pat fought the fish for a good 20 minutes before we brought it in. To our surprise Pat from New York landed a monster Wahoo!

Thats-a-nice-a-fish!!!!!!!!!!!
This morning we had a group of guys from Canada. There was a little bit of some wavege going on but all were game for some trophy hunting. Captain Kunta opted to live bait out the riggers and we caught a cool looking baby hammerhead shark!

We brought the little guy in for some pics and sent him off to fight another day. Nice release. Hammerheads are now on the endangered list and can not be killed any longer.
This afternoon the wind picked up and the water cleaned up a bit more for carlos's bachelor party! Captain Kunta and mate Joey popped the kites out and almost immediately it was sailfish on! Carlos fought the sailfish for a minute and it jumped off. That sucked but it happens. Thats why they call it fishing and not catching. No Worries Captain Kunta and Joey to the rescue! They reset the kite baits and soon enough it was sailfish on once again! Carlos fought a beauty of a sail for a good 45 minutes and landed arguably the biggest sail of the day!

Congratulations and pretty work Kunta and Joey. Big smiles and high fives all around!
