Labor Day was saved! Hammerhead on a slow fishing day!

Capt. Kent "Kunta" Smith
September 7, 2011
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

There was a 3 knot current moving north and fishing was a little frustrating due to all the rain the night before. We had a nice Wahoo on the line and it shook itself loose before it got to the boat leaving Ari and his two friends from Finland a little upset but still hopeful. Then we had a bonito shake himself loose as well and we were all saying what the heck is going on. The radio was real silent only with pleas of captains trying to find the fish. Captain Kunta asked Ari if he'd like to try his luck with at a shark and he agreed. So, we sent out our dead baits and a few gogs out on the kite and swapped fishing stories for a while having a good time until it was time to go back in. We brought in all the baits and on the mid bait as the Danimal was reeling it in got bit and bit good! Game On! Ari had a blast reeling in a Golden Hammerhead!

He had never brought in a sea monster of that stature before and probably will never bring in something quite like this again.

He said it'll look good next to his sailfish that he already has at home on his wall in Finland! Reel Appeal to the rescue once again!
