Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
There's good action on snappers and groupers on our daily drift fishing trips this week. March and April are when the bottom fishing starts rolling and the fish start hitting the deck. Really nice mutton snappers are chewing in 40-100ft of water. We're catching them on sardines, ballyhoo, chunks of squid and other cut bait. The fishermen that know what they are doing and have a good feel for the bite can do really well on mutton snappers this time of year.
Our sportfishing charters are also starting to roll. The big kingfish are moving through in good numbers. Just yesterday we caught this 60+ pounder on a live bait set on the downrigger. Mahi-mahi, tuna, a few wahoo and even a couple sailfish are also biting on our sportfishing trips this week. March through May is my favorite time of the year to fish Fort Lauderdale. In a couple weeks, the shark fishing is going to get really good too. We run a lot of shark fishing charters for some of the biggest game sharks in the ocean. In past years, we've caught some really exotic species such as the Big Eye Thresher shark, Longfin Mako shark, Tiger shark and Great White. The potential for greatness is abundant this month with some really good shark fishing for our big game hunters.
Good luck to everyone fishing this month. I'll sea ya on the water.
