Merry Christmas In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
December 24, 2022
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here I hope everyone has a happy holidays and a merry Christmas, lots of cold weather down here in Fort Lauderdale right now, not as cold as some of the northern states right now but very cold for us, the fishing this week with the cold weather has been very very good lots of great catches this week, just on the edge of the reef there has been a very good amount of skipjack tuna and also blackfin tuna mixed in but seems like the bite is only good super early in the morning on them. Sailfish are here, we have been catching some nice sized sailfish while trolling the last few days, this cold weather should make them bite very well over the next few weeks, the hot bite this week was wahoo, lots of wahoo biting just off the coast of Fort Lauderdale due to the recent cold weather we have been having, trolling has been the most productive way to catch these fish right now, early mornings and late afternoons are always best. Earlier in the week we had some really really good mahi action which is rare for this time of year, All the fish were averaging around 10lbs with some up to 20lbs were caught this week all by trolling. As far as a bottom fishing report this week bottom fishing for snapper has been fairly decent mostly vermillion snapper and triggerfish have been biting on the shallower bottom spots around 200 feet of water, but to be perfectly honest I have not done much bottom fishing this week due to the fantastic pelagic fish that are biting right now. The cold weather looks to be here till just after Christmas so I would imagine we will have sailfish, tuna, and some wahoo biting over the next few days. We have some great photos this week of some recent catches caught during our deep sea fishing charters out of Fort Lauderdale, so be sure to check those out, also remember to follow us on social media platforms like Facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Not much availability left this week coming up but there is a few spots open if your looking to get out deep sea fishing, Happy Holidays everyone! Capt. Vinnie 954 559 4700
