Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing remains strong when conditions allow you to get out. Over the past couple of week we have had a couple of mild cold fronts come through and stir up the seas. Hopefully these next ones will bring more sailfish to us. There was a small run of sailfish in the past week to the north but it took place over maybe 2 days and now is over. Saturday (yesterday) we snuck a charter our and in 2 hours fishing in brown water we caught one sail as well as a 10lb. dolphin and some small kingfish before the clients got sick. Hopefully after this front the water will clear up and we can get back to sailfishing. We had best luck kite fishing with goggle eyes north of boca on the reef.
Last week the dolphin were still offshore from 200ft-1400ft as well as some small blackfin tunas. Best bet to find dolphin is find weedlines or have birds show you the way. The blackfins have been responding well to live chumming pilchards and are a lot of fun a light tackle.
The swordfish bite was strong before this last blow, with both daytime and nighttime fish being caught. Daytime fish were in the 100-250lb. range and nighttime were a little smaller. Seemed like the nighttime bite was good late (or early morning).
Next weekend we have a bahamas charter weather permitting so hopefully the conditions will remain calm and allow for us to make the crossing. Hopefully the wahoos will cooperate.
