Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Graham family from Northern Ontario Canada were on vacation in Fort Lauderdale. They decided to bring there son Mike a 10th grader out for a 4 hour Deep Sea Private Fishing Charter on The YB Normal. We left our dock at 8:00 AM located at 1005 Sea Breeze Blvd in Fort Lauderdale Beach. The family had never been Deep Sea Fishing and had herd about Kite fishing and really wanted to try it. We got some live bait and headed out of Port Everglades to the north on what was a beautiful morning. We decided to put the kite's up in about 120 ft. of water off of Fort Lauderdale beach. The morning was just to perfect the sea's were calm and the wind was only blowing at around 5 MPH. We took out our ultra light kites out and tried to get them to fly but the wind just was not blowing enough. This was not going to work so we had to go to plan B. This is the great thing about fishing off of Fort Lauderdale there are always other options. The kite rods were put away and we replaced them with rods for some trolling. We put out 2 planners and 3 high lines and started working in and out from 90 Ft. to 250 Ft. 15 minutes into the trolling we got a nice bite on the long planner Mike then caught his biggest fish a nice 13 pound King Mackerel. We got some pictures and put it into the cooler. We began trolling again in and out working all depths in about 180 Ft. of water our short planner got hit hard the line was really flying off the real. Mike got back on the rod and began to fight the fish he new this was a lot different then the King Mackerel after about 15 Minutes we saw the fish under the YB Normal it was a big Wahoo the family really got excited. then a few more minutes past and we were able to get a great gaff shot on the Wahoo and in the boat it came. Now this was the trophy fish they had come out on the Private Deep Sea Fishing charter they were looking for. We began Trolling again and were lucky enough to get a few more Bonita's. We ended the trip dropping a live bait down on a wreck in 280 feet of water had a nice bite but pulled the fish off. It was time to go back to the dock and the family went inside for some air conditioning for March the temperature was almost 85 degrees. When we got backed the Wahoo was put on the scale and was 37 pounds Mike couldn't wait to post his pictures and start bragging to his friend. When in Fort Lauderdale give me a call ( Capt. Vinnie 954-559-4700 ) and I will set up a private fishing charter for you and your friends and family
