Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The snapper bite on the reef is insane this month. Lots of mutton snappers during the day and lots of yellowtail snappers at night. May and June traditionally boast some of the best snapper fishing of the year, here in Fort Lauderdale. The calm seas and the current usually cooperate perfect for good snapper fishing conditions during these months. We're getting most of our action fishing the 40-75' depth of water. Drifting during the day and anchoring and chumming at night are the best techniques. Mutton snappers, the bigger snappers that we catch here in south Florida, are biting great during the day trips. The yellowtail snappers, smaller but usually more numerous, are biting really good on the night trips. Plenty of other action mixed in with grunts, porgies, jacks and small groupers. A few big kingfish and blackfin tunas are also showing up for us on these trips. All in all, good action and fun times on our drift fishing trips. Let's go fishing!
