Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The dolphin fishing has lit up this week with good catches of them on most of our deep sea fishing charters this week. We're catching them trolling offshore, anywhere from 3-7 miles offshore. The best method is just to head offshore with your lures out and set, try to cover as much territory as you can until you find something good to fish to. Good stuff to find to fish to are weedlines, large seaweed patches, slicks or current edges, any kind of floating debris and of course, birds. Birds are the best find this time of year. They are usually a good indicator that you are near dolphin.

Some of our best catches this week were by a lucky find of a floating debris. Yesterday, we found a refrigerator floating offshore which was loaded with lots of small dolphin and a couple wahoos hanging down deep. Whenever you find something floating and you catch some dolphin around it, don't forget to try a deep bait to see if there is a wahoo home. Tunas, sailfish and shark are all possible catches when fishing offshore too. You never know what you might find.

November and December are both great months to go dolphin fishing offshore in Fort Lauderdale. There's usually something to find and while other times of the year might be pretty barren offshore, these 2 months are great months to go for the gusto and head offshore. Good luck to everyone fishing out there this month. I'll sea you on the water.
