Rainy Day in Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

today on the YB normal out of Fort Lauderdale we had a very good repeat customer from pitsburg, mike. He has fished with us numerous times when he comes into town, today was questionable weather wise but we decided to go anyways so we left the slip at 8am sharp not looking for anythng in particular just to bend the rods and catch some fish, we headed out to the whistle bouy to start our deep sea fishing adventure this bouy is located only 1 mile from our coast and the water is around 120 feet deep, we started out with 2 planners down and 3 surface baits, the seaweed has been a very large problem for us lately because when you get some of the seaweed on the baits the fish wont eat the lure so it makes alot of work for the first mate, between the seaweed today we also had on and off rain storms, even tho we had lots of rain today the fish were definitely biting we ended up catching 6 king mackerel in less than and hour and very nice sized fish ranging from 10-15lbs after that we decided to head offshore to around 400 feet of water in hopes of some different fish on our way we ened up getting a bite in the surface line that ened up being a very nice sized saifish, mike faught the fish for around 10 mins and the fish gave us a great show with jumps and everything unfortunately we did pull the hook a few moments later but what a show, i continued to work offshore and we had gotten another bite on one of our surface lines and it ened up being a nice mahi mahi around 10-12lbs and excellent gamefish and fish for the table we landed him after around a 15 min battle and by this time the rain was comming down hard and lots of scattered thunderstorms around so mike decided to call the trip, we had a great trip and couldnt really do any better then we did 6 kingfish a nice mahi and a sailfish we jumped off thats some great fishing if you ask me, we headed back to the dock located right on beautiful fort lauderdale beach took some great pictures and began to clean some fish for mike so he and his family could have a wonderful dinner, mike thanked us and told us that he would be back soon and he is a customer for life, well there you have it another great deep sea fishing charter out of fort lauderdale on the YB Normal rain or shine!
