Red Hot Fishing Off Fort Lauderdale

Capt. David Ide
March 14, 2016
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

March 8, 2016

This past Sunday Lady Pamela sportfishing had a four-hour morning where we trolled, kitefished and did a little bit a bottom fishing. The troll and kitefishing were not productive but we caught some vermilion snappers and triggerfish off the bottom. We headed back out in the afternoon with six people on a shared charter hoping forbetter action. As soon as we got the lines out in 200 feet of water, we started catching blackfin tuna. Then we caught more blackfin tuna. For three straight hours, we were catching blackfin tuna. This action was nonstop as we boated 26 blackfin tuna in total. It was with a doubt one of the best blackfin tuna bites I have seen.

On Monday we caught a few more blackfin tunas off Ft. Lauderdale, then went out to 350 feet to put the shark baits out. Within 30 minutes our anglers saw a giant shark going after the left long kite bait. It was big hammerhead and Jason jumped in the chair and set the hook. This fish put up a tough 30 minute fight before we finally got to the boat. Our lucky angler got some great pictures of his 7 foot scalloped hammerhead shark. What fun!
