Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Mixed Bag
Todays conditions were nice as the winds came out of the NW to North at about 7-10 knots. Seas were 2-3 feet. There was no current today. We set up our lines about 6 miles north of the port and never had to do another drift, we set up at 80 feet and ended up at 150 feet less than 1/2 mile south of where we started. Our baits were goggle eyes, Tinker Makeral, and Pilchards, the perfect combo for a perfect day. We got our first Kingfish, 6 pounds, nice and early, then it was a Sailfish on the lite line set-up who took a small Gog close to the boat. Then it was another Kingfish over 25 pounds who ate a Tinker on the flat line. Then a Dolphin at 6 pounds or so who ate a Pilchard close to the boat. Our last fish ate a pilchard on the lite line again and battled Frank, and his family for the next 20 minutes, finally the fish came to the boat, it was another kingfish bigger than the last at close to 30 pounds. Now that's a mixed bag, Sailfish, Dolphin and Kingfish! All between 7Am and 11Am. The ocean was gracious today.
Till next Tide,
Captain Cary Hanna
