Fishing Report for Ft. Lauderdale & Port Everglades

Capt. Cary Hanna
March 5, 2003
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Same weather, Same bite.

It's time to break out the sunscreen once again as the sun is burning constantly on our necks. The weather has been consistantly at 85 degrees peaking towards the 90's in the afternoons. Winds are steadily coming out of the south to southeast. The bite is happening early mornings with a Sailfish on every trip and plenty of screaming Kingfish bites. Today, Joseppe from White Plains New York battled his first Sailfish that hit the down line first. The rod just bent over slightlyand stayed that way until we pulled on it and it came loose, as we reeled it in to check the bait the Sailfish followed it right up to the boat. I tried to reel in one of the flat lines to feed him but he grabbed one of the pilchards on the light line set-up and the fight was on. In between Jovanne went one on one with some nice Kingfish that we put in the box. After 11:00am the bite shut down. All in all my two Italian friends had a great time. Till next tide, Captain Cary Hanna
