Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Wonders of the Deep
The long tail thresher shark is an accomplishment to bring to the boat. This time of year, the early Spring, these Longtails move their way through our waters. They are mostly nocturnal but can be caught during the day on the bottom approaching the 400 feet depths. They are also great to eat as they resemble the Swordfish with their cross sectioned meat. Get a preview of it at the web sites reports page.
The weather is awsome with the fronts coming thrue this week, a little breezy but nothing we can't handle. Reports of Dolphin on the east winds yesterday were plentiful just outside the reef past 300 feet, a lot in the 5-10 pound range. Kingfish are here bending rods everyday and Sails are still consistant on a daily basis, the northeast to the southeast winds are producing doubles or more on a 4 hour trip. The Blackfin Tuna are hit and miss, the weather patterns lately are making the bite unpredictable. You just have to get out and take your best shot at them. On the New Lattitude we went through some renovations last week with the livewell system, now we have a sweet 50 gallon set-up that works awsome, it helps the live baits to stay strong so when you put them on the hook, it's like you just caught them fresh from the ocean. A strong live bait gets hit first everytime.
Till next tide,
Captain cary Hanna
