Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dolphin are here!
On Friday the 25th, we headed out with Mr. Ruben and his 4th grade daughter from the Long Island, Islip area and as we headed out of the inlet 3-5 foot seas said hello along with 20 knot winds from the SE. We took our time getting out and the seas became better as we got deeper, still big and getting bigger with occasional 6-8 footers and gusty winds up to 25 knots but the seas were nice and swelly. My crew made it the whole trip without getting sick, so we tried our best fishing. Just inside of 200 feet the flying fish were everywhere in very large schools. It is truly awsome to see nature at it's best especially when you see flyers get up and glide thrue the area by the 1000's. The Dolphin bite was pretty good all over with a lot of schools of smaller Dlophin coming to the boat in the 2-6 pound range with the occasional bigger fish if you were one of the fortunate boats to have one come up in your spread. The bluewater edge was in to 150 feet to the south of the port and therefore so were most of the bites. The bite wasn't so strong as most fish seemed to have their sites set on the plentiful flying fish that were everywhere. With the consistant southerly winds we should see a lot more Dolphin coming thrue.
Till next tide,
Captain Cary Hanna
