Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

GREAT MORNING ACTION
This entire week has been beautiful on the water. Seas are basically flat and the action starts as soon as you get out there. We have been heading out from 6:30 to 7am every day, checking in with Rays live bait, heading out the inlet and finding fish right from the get go.
Kingfish have been first to the baits all week. Ours have been 10 pounds and up to 20 on the average. These guys are skyrocketing live baits jumping 10 feet in the air, half the time they miss on the first try but they always wind up getting him.
Sailfish have been productive one day and gone the next. On Wednesday we found 2 Sails and heard of at least 10 others. Current was north at over 2 knots in areas. Today the current was going south and we couldn't find any Sails but we had enough Kingfish to throw back a few. We even found a Cero Mackeral in the shallows which made for an awsome catch of a beautiful fish.
Reports for most of the Dolphin being caught have been on the 800 foot edge, about 6-8 miles offshore and further. If you don't have the sea legs, this is the best time to go out fishing deep sea. We have been doing a few Swordfish trips over the past week and the water has been smooth as glass, it makes for an enjoyable evening and an unforgetable experience.
Till next tide, Captain Cary Hanna
