Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

A short break in the weather
Tuesday night the ocean opened up for us and let us go Swordfishing. There was some leftover northeast chop on the way out, 2-3 feet. We got to our spot shortly after dark and set our sea anchor, works like a dream. We had Tinker mackeral all over our boat the whole night. Caught enough to put aside the Runners (match the hatch) and fished them the rest of the night. We had 2 fish by 8:00pm and pulled the hooks on both. One got caught in the props, so I had to freespool the reel and dig into the water with the rod to get the line out and when we got tight he thrashed right behind the boat and shook off. Our first bite was right about 7:00 and next was about 8. Our fish ate Tinkers and squid. The night ended pretty quick as the south winds picked up and the temps dropped about 10 degrees. So much for our break in the weather. Our next window should come up shortly, keep a watch on the weather reports to fit your schedule around some great Billfishing.
Till next tide, Captain Cary Hanna
