Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Every Bait in the well.
These summer mornings have been producing plenty of fish. Like clockwork the afternoon thunderstorms are rolling in, usually by 3 pm. Mondays' fishing trip, 8/2 we loaded up with over 2 dozen baits and headed slightly north. The current was running north at 1.8 knots on the inside of the reef and 3.5 knots on the outside making for some nice edges and rips. We ended our day with 6 Kingfish from 10 to over 20 pounds and also at least 10 Bonito's. The barracudas have been on the crazy side lately. We had a wild Barracuda about 5 feet long take one of the baits and greyhound across the water. We thought we had a Sailfish as he was jumping out of the water so much. The Sailfish and Wahoo are around but not in big numbers. They take some searching out but they are there. We had a Sailfish on Friday 8/6, he ate a Pilchard we had slow trolled behind the boat. The boys just north of us are catching Wahoo almost everyday, One guy brought one in at almost 70 pounds weighed in on the Lauderdale Marina scales. You can expect good action and calm waters in the morning hours these days. I have some good pictures from this trip to be up in the photo section within a few days, check them out!
Till Next Tide,
