Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Back Rest
Summertime is around the corner and so are the calm seas. What a relief it has been to fish in flat calm waters compared to the winter seasons 3-5 foot seas. The only thing to watch for are the rain storms. Even then they cool you down a bit.
For the past month we've had pretty good action catching some Sailfish, Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna, Hammerhead Sharks, giant Barracuda, and even a record size 5-6 pound Blue Runner.
To be productive fishing in the summertime you have to start early, at least by 7am to get a good bite. The late evenings before sunset produces alot of bites too especially for the Blackfin tuna. Sumertime evenings can be the most tranquil part of the day if the weatehr is right. It's one of my favorite times to get out to the Swordfish grounds and enjoy glass calm seas.
The Darkside of the Moon Swordfish Torny is coming up June 25th. We are looking foward to fishing it.
Thanks to Tom Putnam, Mike Sierra, Jose belpre, Jordan Lanford, Josh White Valerie Badnasco, Dave Wood, Ron Emery, Brian Harris, Jim Sybil, The Gonzalas family and many others for chartering the New Lattitude in the month of May. I got a chance to make alot of new friends and I hope to see you all again in the near future.
Last year in June we had phenomenal fishing as I checked my archived reports. We were at that time of year when every bait in the livewell gets eaten. It's great action for the kids especially since school will be out. Watch out or you may get hooked on fishing!
Till Next Tide,
