Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
The Biggest game in Town!
If you really want to gamble, come out for a day or night of fishing on board the New Lattitude.
Right now the Sailfish are pushing through Ft. Lauderdale and will continue to increase in larger pods as we get into the winter season. Kingfish are showing up bigger than the usual 5-10 pounders as fish over 20 pounds are being caught with the occasional smoker. Mahi-Mahi have been scarce on the reef but that can change from day to day as I'm expecting to see some nice fish show up on the days the northeast winds blow.
Offshore at night the Swordfish fishing will be heating up as the new moon starts up today. You can expect some serious action in the upcoming 2-3 weeks.
We had a few nice Swordfishing trips in the past 2 weeks with our best catch at just over 200 pounds. Charlie Mortone and his 2 good friends from Long Island had all agreed to pay the Captain extra to stay out an hour more since the moon was just rising. Their bet paid off as we reset the boat and deployed our baits. I rigged our last big Blue Runner and also set out some fresh squid baits. I was about to set up the # 5 rod when # 1 goes off screaming. I had to get the hook set and as soon as we were tight the fish became violent as it would take off at high speeds then stop. Then it would take off agian with high speed putting a hurtin on the angler. All 3 guys got a chance at reeling in this fish and we finally got him boatside within 30 minutes. Everyone was pumped up as this fish came in the back door. The bill on this fish was huge, almost 3 feet long. Charlie opted to have me get the bill cleaned up for him and mail it back to him.
Once again, come aboard for the biggest game in town!
