Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

As the seasons progress the fish patterns adjust. The inshore scene is as different as the conditions of the week. We had some pretty clean water (for Lauderdale) on the inside becuse of the lack of rain. Well last week it poured 3 days straight and the canals and harbor looked like something between pea soup and coffee. The fish and bait don't take well to those conditions and the hunt was needed to find the hangout spots. Once again though the water has cleared up and all is back to normal.

The mullets are having a bad day each morning in the canal where I dock my boat. Mostly Jacks but a few Tarpon doing it too. A friend of mine was dragging live bait in the harbor this week looking for a cuda bite at high noon when a 33" Snook grabbed the bait. Not many daytime Snook caught in this town.

The trurh is, during this time of year most of my time is spent offshore soaking live baits for the monster Kingfish and Sailfish that are flying through. You'll usually find me inside when my customers are prone to "bad food" or when the seas are truly BIG. This is a great time of year to be THERE!
