Pompano Beach & Ft. Lauderdale

Capt. Ryan McBride
June 18, 2007
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Report for 6/14/2007

Afternoon charter today...we fished from 110-200 feet on the reef today slow trolling and kite fishing with goggle eyes. We caught kingfish and lost a sail on the slow troll and caught a sail, kingfish, and baracuda on the kite. Hot depth seemed to be 140-150 and the bites were on the surface baits. No deep bites today.

Report for 6/16/2007

Today the storms ruled, the wind shifted out of the southwest and the squal lines started rolling in. It seems as if the kingfish have moved deeper and we caught a upper twenty pounder out in 250ft, and I have heard of other reports of deep kingfish. Today we also caught a few yellowtail snapper, as well as being bothered by remoras. A slow day overall but not bad for the conditions. On our way in just outside of the mooring balls, on a south swell, we came accross a couple tailing sailfish in just over 40ft of water. Keep your eyes open they were in there on the ballyhoo schools. There were also a few wahoo caught in the last couple days, fishing should pick up in the next couple weeks especially around the full moon. Also at the end of the day we had schoolie dolphin around the boat in 90 ft. of water, though no real big fish were spotted. We will be fishing a lot next week and hopefully the fish will bite and the weather improve.
