Fort Lauderdale, FL - Offshore

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Wahoo, Kingfish & Bonitos!

The Kings and Bonitos are still thick on the reefs. We have been catching our limit every trip, trolling planers with spoons and strips in 80 to 200’ of water.

There have been a lot of Wahoo biting in with the Kings and Bonitos. Most of the fish have been small with an occasional 40 to 50 lb fish being caught.

The Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) fishing has been decent. The fish have been anywhere from 400’ to 900’ of water. The fish have been around some scattered weeds and under the birds. We did catch a bunch of Dolphin under a long stick we found. floating. Most of the fish have been 3 to 8 lbs and a few 10 to 20 lb fish.

The wreck fishing has been slow, a few Bull Sharks and a few Amberjacks. We did catch a couple of nice groupers last week of one wreck..

The Swordfishing is picking up with the fish averaging a 100 lbs. A few boats reported fish up to 200 lbs. We fished 2 nights and caught 2 out of 5 bites last week.

We did catch a few Sailfish in the past week. We found the fish showering ballyhoo on the reefs.

Overall, I would have to say the fishing is really good. The weather has been calm and not too many boats out.

Catch-em-up,

Captain Kunta
