Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The winds are blowing, so the fishing is good!
The winds have been strong out of the East for the past two weeks. The seas have been a bit rough, but when we have been able to fish, the fish are there!
The Sailfish are really strong right now. Boats are catching 1 to 10 a day. The best bite has been with live bait from the kite. The hardest part is getting/catching the live bait.
Along with the Sailfish are quite a few nice sized Mahi-mahi (Dolphin fish).
The Wahoo bite throughout the Bahamas is really good. We do catch a few over on this side too. There have been a few caught this week up to 45 lbs.
There have been a few Black-fin Tunas around. They also have been eating live baits out of the kite.
The Kingfish have been scattered and no Bonitos except for the small bullets and they are hard to come by.
Swordfishing is the best we had encountered in years and no one has been out since Christmas Eve due to the winds. On Christmas Eve the few boats that ventured out were rewarded with quite a few bites and many decent fish were caught. Fish from 50 lbs to almost 300 lbs were weighed in.
There are a few Sharks and Amberjacks on the wrecks and even a few nice Mutton Snappers too.
Catch-em-up,
Captain Kent Smith
