Fort Lauderdale, FL - Offshore

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

March Winds have blown in lots of fish!

We have seen every kind of fish within 2 miles of the beach this week!

Free jumping Swordfish in 200 feet of water, tailing Sailfish on the reefs, Mako Sharks, Mahi-mahi and more!

Saturday we had a charter that wanted to catch a Shark! We went out and put live baits out on the surface and dead Bonitos deep. It didn’t take long before we caught a 6’ Dusky Shark. We put the baits back out and the dead Bonito bait went off, screaming line like a race boat went by and caught it. Immediately the fish went to the surfaced and jumped! What in the world????? Again it jumps and this tie we see it. A Big MAKO Shark! 8 jumps later we had the fish close and it looks to be over 500 lbs and close to 600 lbs. What a catch and what a great fight and display of its power.

The day before that we live baited an edge in 250’ of water off Hollywood and caught 20 Mahi-mahi and most were gaffers!

The wrecks are still producing Amberjacks, Barracudas and those pesky Bull Sharks are still attacking every fish we hook over the wrecks!

Sail fishing is good when conditions are right, which should be good the next few days!

King Mackerel and Bonitos are not real thick, but we are catching a few trolling wire lines on the reefs.

The fishing overall is real good and were having lot’s of fun!

Let’s go Fishing!

Catch-em-up,

Captain Kunta
