Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Giant Swordfish caught off Ft. Lauderdale
It was an awesome week this Friday night on the Catch My Drift. We went out on our Open Boat Friday Night Swordfishing Trip as usual. It was a beautiful night, nice breeze and the weather couldn't have been better. Early on in the night we catch a little swordfish, an inch under legal size. Threw that one back and put the baits back out for another set. One of our regulars gets the bite, a big one. Fish made some decent runs but when it came up, we had no idea it was as big as it was. Grabbed the leader for the first time, the fish takes off. the second time we got the leader we harpooned him, perfect shot. Dart detactched, let him run one more time. Third time we gaffed and pulled him in the boat. Biggest one we've caught so far on our Friday night trip so far. Fish weighed somewhere in the 300# range. What a beauty. We got back to the dock, filleted it up. It was a perfect pumpkin, meat as orange as a salmon. Great night for all those that came. Hopefully we'll have the same luck this week. There's still room
