Tim Multeren and friends from Rhode Island were here in Fort Lauderdale FL attending a business conference and combined it with an adventurous deep sea off shore sport fishing charter aboard the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team. Here in Fort Lauderdale FL we had sun coming in an out of the clouds and winds out of the east at 7-12 mph.

We left the dock and 15/20 minutes later we were at the fishing grounds, which is 1.8 miles from shore off of Fort Lauderdale FL. Today we had 5 surface baits, four Ballyhoos and one Bonito strip with one plainer down with a double hook Mullet strip in front of a pink and white sea witch. For a teaser, I went with a Ballyhoo dredge. For the last few days Sailfish action was good, and we hoped to see one today. We started fishing in 120 ft. of water and went in and out over the drop off in Fort Lauderdale FL. Our first fish was a 40" Barracuda, which was hooked on a surface bait, followed by a couple of Mahi Mahi's in the 5-8 lb. class. From there I headed towards a wreck that sits in 350 ft. of water south of Fort Lauderdale FL to do some Shark fishing. After a 35 minute wait, we hooked up with a Shark on the midrange bait. Twenty-five minutes into the fight we pulled the hook. From there we went back to trolling with the same set up. As I looked down on the dredged teaser, a black shadow was behind it belonging to a Sailfish; he attacked the right short swimming Ballyhoo, and the fight began, jumping out of the water and putting on a grand show. Twenty minutes later, Tim, the angler, brought the Sailfish to the boat, which was released to fight again.

With good action and eating fish for diner, we headed back to the dock in Fort Lauderdale FL.
