13 Sailfish In One Trip!

Capt. David Ide
April 8, 2017
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

As a charter captain, I yearn for days when I can show my customers what I have seen happen many times each year as I fish daily. It's when everything comes together at just the right time for their trip and we use our experience as well as talent to get those lines screaming.

On this day, we took out our newest boat to the fleet, our 33' Glass Tech. This boat is rigged to the max for live bait and kite fishing. It features a full walk around deck so that our customers can run around the boat easily when wehave a double, triple or even quad of sailfish on which is very common. I believe it to be one of the best sportfishing boats in it's class.

With most likely our final cold front of the season, I had a feeling the fishing would be absolutely incredible as April is just about the best month of fishing South Florida has to offer. With every passing cold front our sailfish fishing is usually red hot and boy did they cooperate.

We finished the day with 13 releases which is usually enough to win a tournament! Our clients did a great job reeling in the fish. They were eating live baits on the kite. The great thing about this boat is the tower is extremely high allowing me to see them before they eat so I can have my mate or client drop back the bait to them for a good hookup ratio.

Just when you think we can top the awesome sailfish bite, we get a 350 pound blue marlin on! Understand that is is VERY rare for us to get blue marlin in this area and unfortunately after a long battle we lost the fish on our light tackle. With light tackle, we can't put as much pressure on such a big fish as we would like, but we were close!

I just had a cancellation on one of our private boats for tomorrow due to a client being sick. I also have the drift boat going out tomorrow at 830am, 1230pm and 730pm for only $35. Please use coupon code "Yellowtail10" when booking the drift boat online.
