Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Second Half of Nov Fishing off The Coast of Fort Lauderdale Florida
Nov 20
Today we took out our old customers Jack and Hassel both from Rotterdam Holland. We wanted to fly our kites with live baits suspended from them but we had no wind at all. So we dropped back to plan B we went to the reef and caught live ballyhoos and slow trolled them just outside the reef.
We were at it for about 20 min when a big sailfish popped up on one of our live baits. At first we did not see the fish but we did see our live bait jumping all over the place so we knew something was going on out there. So we let the fish take off with the bait for a couple of seconds and when we came tight she came up jumping. Jack wasted no time jumping in the chair and we were Hooked Up. This was not Jack's first sail so while he was fighting his fish we kept all the other baits out there hopping to get another bite. It took jack about 15 min to reel his fish to the boat side we got a quick picture of the fish and watched him swim away in great shape.
We were fishing a little deeper than all the other charter boats we were in 350 feet of water but since the water looked so good where we were and we really wanted to try to catch a few dolphin fish for dinner we decided to stay right there and man was that the right thing to do. It only took a few min after catching Jack's fish when all of a sudden we had 3 sailfish up at the same time.
We managed to hook 2 out of the 3 and once again we were Hooked Up. At first both fish were swimming pretty much in the same direction so all was well but Hassel's fish had pulled out a lot of line and now the 2 fish were going in different directions so we had to do something and do it fast Hassel was almost out of line. We decided to put Jack up on the bow of the boat and back down on Hassel's fish to try and get some line back on the reel.
It worked and soon we had Jack back in the cockpit and now both fish were coming at the boat at the same time.
We tried to get both fish in the picture at the same time before releasing both fish in great shape. O and yea we did finally manage to catch a couple of small dolphin fish but it was more than enough for dinner.
Jack and Hassel as always had a ball fishing with you and looking forward to you guys showing me around Holland in January.

This morning we got to the boat with no fishing trips scheduled but soon after we got there we had 3 guys looking to go fishing. We had a good feeling that we were going to have a lucky day.
We had Chris, Gizmo and Santino all from here in Fort Lauderdale and what these guys were looking for was some fish for dinner. So we started out trolling the reef hopping to catch some kingfish and then maybe some dolphin fish.
Things started out as planed we were catching some kingfish but we did not hear of anyone catching and dolphin fish off shore so we decided to just stay in on the reef and see what might pop up for us. We were not expecting a sailfish to pile on one of our baits but that was just what happens and all 3 guys took turns reeling him in. When we finally got the fish to the side of the boat we realized that no one had brought a camera along.
But everyone had a ball and we released the fish in good shape.
We ended up catching more than we expected to and everyone had a ball.
Fishing seems to be getting better every day and with the cold fronts moving down I think we are going to have one of the best sail fish seasons we've had in a long time so give us a call and let's go fishing.

Our morning started out with Jennifer, Justin, Wes, Gary and Carol all from Dyersville, Iowa. We started out trolling the reef looking for some kingfish or bonitos just to throw some fish in the box but nothing seemed to be biting on the reef so we decided to set out our kites with some live baits suspended from them and hope for the best.
And the best is just what we got. After setting out our baits BAM there he was a big sailfish trying to eat one of our baits. We let the sailfish run with the bait for a few seconds than we came tight and we were Hooked Up. O yea did I mention that it was a little rough out there today. I had to work the cockpit because Captain Greg had the flu and he was so sick he was throwing up in a bucket while he was driving the boat and everyone else was sick from the well let's just say it was a little rough out there today.
The only one on the boat that felt fine was Jennifer and me. Having said that you can guess who got to jump in the chair.
I've got to say that the funny thing about people that get a little sea sick once they see this big sail fish jumping all over the place they all seem to feel better at the same time. (LOL)
Jennifer did a great job reeling in the sailfish and once we got him close to the boat we got a few quick pictures and watched him swim away in good shape.
At this point everyone had enough so we called it a day a little early.
Way to hang in there Jennifer.
On our way in from our morning trip we got our afternoon trip to meet us a little early so once we got to the dock we had Bill from Naperville IL, Mike from New York, Randy from California and Larry also from
California at the dock eager to try their luck at catching a sailfish.
This time we waited no time trolling the reef we went right to kite fishing hopping to catch a sail or two. At this point the current had come to a complete stop and fishing was pretty slow for everyone out there.
But we hung in there and sure enough it paid off for us we had a big sailfish all over one of our kite baits. We let him run with the bait for a couple of seconds and went ahead with the boat and BAM we were finally hooked up again.
This time Bill jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It took Bill a good 25 min to reel this giant sailfish to the boat. Way to go Bill!!
We got a couple of quick pictures and watched him swim away in good shape.
Thanks again to all of our guests today had a ball and sorry about the rough seas.
Well I don't have to say how good fishing is now so give us a call and come on down and let's get you out there for a day of sail fishing.

This morning we took out Rick and his son Ricky his wife and 2 daughters Heidi, Ashley, and Courtney all from Chicago out for a morning of deep sea fishing.
We went right to kite fishing because the seas were a little rough out there this morning and I figured this would be the most conferrable way to fish for everyone on board. My plan worked for about an hour but a couple of the kids were just not having any fun and we decided to pull in all the line and make a run for the intercoastal. Once we got inside to calm water we decided to just cruse around Port Everglades and show them some of the sites and maybe show them a manatees or two also.
My son Luis was the mate for today's trip and if you've ever meat Luis you know that it does not seem to matter to him if he is in a mud puddle or out in the middle of the ocean he just has to put a bait in the water.
This time I'm sure glad he did we ended up catching 2 monster barracudas. (WAY TO GO Luis)
Rick and the rest of the gang thanks again for a fun morning of fishing.
We are well into Nov and the sailfish are starting to show up in good numbers so give us a call and get the heck out of the cold weather for a couple of days and let's do some fishing in Sunny South Florida

This morning Russ, Nick, Neal and Steven all from Merced Ca joined us out for a morning of deep sea fishing off the coast of Ft Lauderdale.
We started out trolling the reef with two baits on plainer boards with bonito strips at the end of the leaders and 3 ballyhoos on top. We trolled for over an hour but only managed to catch a couple of kingfish so we decided to put out our kites with live baits suspended from them.
We made the right choice! It did not take long till there was a big sailfish trying to eat one of our kite baits.
We let him take the bait for a few seconds and then went ahead with the boat. Came tight on the fish and he started dancing all over the top of the water. Russ waited no time jumping in the chair and we were Hooked Up. This was a big sail fish and he had no intentions of coming to the boat easily but Russ hung in there and finally got him to the side of the boat. We got a few quick pictures and watched him swim away in great shape. Way to go Russ.
We are seeing more sailfish this time of the year than we usually do and we think it is due to the releasing of these fish is finally making a difference. So get out of the cold weather and come get some of the fun down here in South Florida.

Today Randy, Jodi, Dominick and Nick all from Santacruz Ca came out fishing on the Hooked Up. We started out trolling the reef but there was little to no current and we had not had a bite in over an hour. So we decided to just keep going further off shore till we found some current. Once again we made the right choice once we found current we also found a nice weed line to fish.
We finally found the dolphin fish not reel big ones but big enough and everyone got a great dinner out of the trip.
Thanks again guys looking forward to fishing you guys again soon.

Today is one of the special days of fishing that I have been looking forward to for about two weeks now. One of our old customers Pete is in town and has 6 different people that wanted to go fishing. The problem was the Pete made it seven people and we can only carry six passengers max. So since I own two boats I suggested that we just take out both boats but Pete had other plans. He figured that if we took out half of the people in the morning trip and the other half in the afternoon trip he could fish both trips. (I like the way you think Pete)
So we started out the morning trip with of course Pete and two of his friends Jerry and Eric. We started out trolling the reef and caught some kingfish than we took a shot at trolling off shore in the Gulf Stream looking for some dolphin fish. And we ended up with a few dolphin fish also.
Ok good trip in the morning but we needed to catch a few more fish than that in our afternoon trip to get them all ready for their fish fry tonight.
So we came back in Sent Jerry and Eric back to their house to start getting ready for dinner and got Pete's mom Barbra and his two sisters Paula and Pam and Pam's husband Mike on board and back out we headed.
This time we went right after the kingfish and found them. We ended up with a box full of kingfish. Than we did some deep drops on an old ship wreck about 350 deep and caught some snappers.
We ended up with more fish than we needed and everyone had a ball. Pete thanks again for a great day on the water.
Looking forward to fishing for sailfish with you this Jan.
December is here and that means sailfish, sharks, kingfish, dolphin fish and lots more. And the colder it gets up north the better the fishing gets down here in Sunny south Florida. So give us a call and let's set up a fishing trip for you or you and all your friends. Heck we can even help you get a hotel close to the boat and close to the airport and as far as the night life it's all right here within walking distance so you don't even have to rent a car. And with fuel prices coming down we are able to keep our fishing prices down.
Thanks for reading our fishing reports and we're looking forward to showing you a great time on the water.

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
