Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this week I have a nice report for you guys, we will start on the inshore side of things, so for the inshore report there has been some nice kingfish, bonitos, and plenty of barracudas on the troll right now in the early mornings, trolling surface baits with ballyhoos, or strips has been a great choice to get some bites, also using planners to take baits under the surface has been a good choice to. Since the storm that we had last week we received heavily gusts of wind from the westerly direction and it has made the water quite dirty, so brighter color lures have been a good choice. other then trolling the bottom fishing on the reef for yellowtail snapper has been good when there is north current, anchoring up and chumming on the reef is a great way to build a spot and bring the fish to you. When anchoring up and chumming we like to throw some live baits out which can bring in some larger fish like kingfish, bonitos, and possibly sailfish too. Moving offshore this week there has been a few blackfin tuna starting to show up in depths around 300 feet. There has been some wahoo around as well, while offshore finding any type of floating debris has been holding wahoo, specially a floating wood pallet or bamboo etc. The best way to target wahoo when fishing some type of floating debris is to troll a planner by it with a blue drone spoon or a sea witch with a strip, if there is wahoo underneath the debris they are aggressive and usually will hit your lure fairly quickly. As far as a mahi report this week there was some , but due to the storm and the green dirty water we have been having they have been very hard to find, but I would imagine the water beginning to clean up as we move towards next week.
