Two of Dallas Fire Department's best, Albert and Diego Garcia, along with their father, Albert, Sr., chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. The boys were celebrating their father's 60th birthday and his wish was to catch a "big" fish.

We purchased live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait and headed out to the sea buoy that sits in 120 ft. of water off of Fort Lauderdale FL. We started off trolling to the south to a wreck south of Fort Lauderdale. On the way, we caught a Mahi Mahi. When I got to the wreck, we set up two kites, two live Goggle Eyes from each kite and one live Goggle Eye from the rigger. A black shadow appeared on the right long kite – Sailfish!!! The Sailfish grabbed the bait and immediately got wrapped up in the leader; he jumped out of the water and threw out the hook. We reset our fishing lines and waited for another fish to appear. As the boys discussed "shop", talking about the fires and paramedic situations, a Sailfish appeared on the left long. This fish ate the Goggle Eye and swam to the south off of Fort Lauderdale with powerful jumps. Albert, Sr. was the angler and kept his fingers crossed hoping everything would go well. Twenty feet from the boat, the Sailfish started jumping again and with his abrasive bill, cut through the monofilament leader. As I reset this time, we put a Shark bait on the bottom. With thirty-five minutes left in fishing time, and all of us saying our prayers to fulfill Albert Sr.'s birthday wish, the bottom rod bent over. Albert, Sr. did a great job sitting in the fighting chair for an hour and 15 minutes – he finally brings the Shark to the boat, measuring out to be a 102" Hammerhead Shark, estimating the weight to be 250 lbs. His birthday gift from the boys was a replica mount of his released Shark.
