Shark fishing south florida

Capt. David Ide
December 5, 2016
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Our goal at Lady Pamela II sportfishing is to put fish on the hook, and/or in the boat. We try to select the best baits, and put our anglers in position to catch fish. However, we are glad to target specific species, or putout anglers on the biggest fish around. When it comes to big fish, sharks are at the top of the list, and the silky shark, our fish of the week, is one species we catch at this time of year. Yes, they get their name from the smooth and silky texture of their skin, but don't be fooled, they are aggressive predators of tunas, octopus, and squid. Silky sharks (Carcharhinus falcidormis) grow up to 12 feet long and over 700 lbs. The biggest one we tagged and released so far was 10 feet long and weighed an estimated 500 lbs. Silky sharks hunt together in packs, so if we hook up one, the odds are pretty good that we will land two or more.

The Lady Pamela II crew is always up for shark fishing, whether it is for Silkys, or hammerheads, or threshers. You say the word, and we will get the fresh bonito baits out in 350-400 feet water off Fort Lauderdale and hunt for big sharks to bend the rods!
