Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

This morning we started out our day with Brant and Julia from Toronto Canada and their good friends Lynn, Lorie and James from Dania Beach Florida.
We were looking to just catch fish and if we caught some edible fish that would be a bones. As it turned out trolling was just the thing to do. We ended up catching 11 kingfish and while trolling dead baits we got a bite on one of the outriggers. The line started peeling off the reel and we knew this was no kingfish. It only took a couple seconds till this real nice sailfish came out of the water and we were Hooked Up. We fought the fish for a good 15 min as we got it to the boat we were getting ready to take some pictures of him before releasing him but just as we got out our cameras we pulled the hooks. (RATS) That's ok we got a good look at him and had a ball getting him to the boat.
That same afternoon we took out Fritz and Jonnie from Vancouver British Colombia. Since we had done so well trolling the reef on the morning we decided to go right back to it. While we did end up with a box full of kingfish we never did see any other sailfish.
Thanks again to our new friends from Canada and we're looking forward to fishing you guys again next year.
Hurricane season is just about gone and the sailfish are already starting to show up. So get out of the COLD weather give us a call and let's do some fishing down here in Sunny South Florida. Heck if you like we'll even help you get hotel reservations near the boat and you won't even need to rent a car.

Today we got to the boat and had a bunch of people standing behind the boat all from Pittsburgh Pa and all eager to go do some fishing and fill the box with fish for their big fish fry. We had Bird, Christine, Wendy, Fred The Marlboro Man, Anna and Jayson.
It all started out real good. Everyone was talking drinking their beers and o yea smoking his Marlboro. We started out trolling down the reef and the kingfish were biting real well. Everyone was catching fish but I did notice that not everyone was talking and carrying on like they were just a few min ago.
I notice that the Marlboro man was no longer smoking his cigarettes and Jason stopped asking all the questions he had been asking earlier in the trip and as for Anna she was looking over the side of the boat down into the ocean. Maybe she seen something I don't know she never did say but what I was sure about was that these 3 were no longer having a good time.
We still had a good 3 hours left in the trip and I knew that Bird had no intentions of calling it a day early so I made an executive decision and decided to take the 3 that were not having too much fun anymore back to the dock. (I THINK THEY WANTED TO KISS ME) (LOL) So back out we headed with Bird, Christine and her big (secret) and Wendy.
We already had a box full of kingfish so we went right to kite fishing looking for a big fish. I sorry to say that we never did see any more fish but we had a ball all the same and as far as for Christine's Secret I let you know when I get the OK to say. But I'll give you a little hint she is the first woman in her condition that I've ever taken out on a boat that DID NOT get sea sick

That same afternoon as we were pulling back to the dock to pick up our afternoon charter the skies were getting a little dark. But all the same the ocean was not very rough and we got Bill and Adam from Clear Water Florida Henry from New Port Ricky Florida Carrey from Orlando Florida Kelly from Tampa and Never Late Pete from Miami Florida on board and off we went.
We got about 2 miles off shore and set out our kites and also put out a couple of dead baits down deep. Just as we had the TRAP SET we were told that they had enough and wanted to go back now. That right that's enough. I thought that maybe they wanted to ride around in the intercostal a bit or something like that but no they wanted off the boat. I've got to say it was one of the shortest trips we've had with one of the biggest tips we've ever gotten for a short trip.
Thanks a bunch guys.
In these guys defense they never had done any deep sea fishing in the past and they had gotten this trip for being top salesmen for T---Mobile. I think next time they might be looking for a big dinner or something else like that on land (LOL)

Today we had four of the biggest Baltimore Ravens fans I've ever seen out for a day of deep sea fishing. We had Ray, Ed, Mel and Lou and all they wanted to do was drink beer catch fish and talk about how bad their football team was going to beat the Miami dolphins. (IT IS GOING TO BE A LONG DAY)
We started out trolling the reef hopping that the kingfish were going to bite. They have not been biting very well and today was no exception we could not catch one kingfish. However we did catch a few bonitos and a couple of baby black fin tunas trolling but that was it. So we decided to try our luck doing some deep drops on a ship wreck. That did pay off for us a little better we caught a nice amber jack and a 12 pound mutton snapper.
Than we set out our kite with some live baits suspended from them and hopped to catch a sailfish. After waiting for quite some time we caught a small shark. Than after a little more waiting up popped this monster sailfish and we were Hooked Up. It took a good 20 min before we finally reeled in the 8 foot plus sailfish. We got a few pictures and watched him swim away to fight another day.
As far as the foot ball game well the Ravens won and it seemed all four of these guys made it a point to swing by the boat everyday for the next 3 days to remind me about that.
Ok guys you got this one but next time its goanna be a different story. Thanks again for a great time and looking forward to seeing you next time we play. But if you lose next time make sure to swing by the boat every day after the game so that I get the chance to remind you guys who won (LOL)
Sailfish are here so what are you doing up there in the cold weather come on down for the weekend and lets set you up in Sunny South Florida for some fishing in the sun.

Ok let me set the stage for this next report. I've got this regular customer who has been fishing with me for about a year now. His name is Mike and he is one of these guys that is just so happy to be out on the ocean that the catching fish comes second. Don't get me wrong he loves catching but he is just so happy to just be out on the ocean that I almost feel bad charging him for the trip. (But I do) (LOL)
As it turns out he is marring a girl that I've known since 1969 (talk about a small world). Well he got married to Anita last night and somehow she is letting him come fishing today. He brought along his new sister-in-law Savannah and her husband Bernie and his god farther Joe (the pain in the butt)
This was Savannah and Bernie's first deep sea fishing trip. We went trolling down the reef and Savannah caught the first fish and that was all for her. She had to catch up on her sleep so she slept the rest of the trip. Now as for Bernie he would catch a fish than throw up over the side of the boat. He did this for the whole trip catch a fish than throw up but I must say he never did bitch once and he even kept drinking a beer ever now and then. As for Joe well every time someone would catch a fish he would start saying how small it was. However every time he would go to reel in a fish it would get away. Don't know if he ever did manage to get a fish to the boat but he sure would let everyone else know how small he thought your fish was. And as for Mike well he was just having a ball bitching at Joe and reeling in fish.
While we never did catch anything special or reel big I've got to say it was one of the funniest trips I've had in a long time.
We ended up with a box full of kingfish.
Mike best of luck on your honeymoon and Joe well let's just say that the fishing trip would not have been the same without you (LOL)
Guy's thanks again my belly was about to bust open from laughing so much and can't wait to do it again.
For those of you living up in one of the colder states let me tell you how easy it is to get you set up with a deep sea fishing trip. Airline fares are cheap and the airport is less than 10 min from the hotels and the boat. Hotels are wide open right now and located within walking distance from the boat and we are ready to take you fishing. So give me a call and I'll be glad to help you set up you quick getaway and get you Hooked Up

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
