Tom Puiia, Aaron Hunter, Isaiah Simpson and Gentry Burch from Maine and New Hampshire chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. The boys were in sunny Fort Lauderdale for the country music Tortuga festival and decided to do some charter fishing in Fort Lauderdale with the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team a few days later. We had partly cloudy skies, wind blowing 15 to 20 mph out of the southwest with clear blue water and scattered weed.

Twenty minutes after leaving the dock, we were at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore. We put down two #8 plainers, both with sea witches in front of double hooked Bonito strips. For surface baits we went with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos. We wound up catching two Bonitos.

The anglers requested to do some Shark fishing so we headed out to 300 ft. of water. We put out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite and one surface and bottom Shark bait. After an hour wait, the bottom rod bent over and stayed bent over while the line exited the reel at a fast rate. Tom was our angler and hopped into the fighting chair, while Dave, our mate, cleared the rest of the lines. After a forty-five minute fight and after retrieving the line, Dave, wired a 7 ft. Bull Shark. What a fish and what a fight!!! Pictures were taken and the Shark was released – Job well done, Tom!!

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, while watching the plasma TV.
