Peter and Lane Ewen, along with their son, Dash, their daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Aaron Blake, and their other daughter, Alicia Sidall, all from Canada chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The family was in Fort Lauderdale vacationing and enjoying our fabulous Florida weather. Winds were out of the east at 12-15 mph, seas running 3-5 ft., temperatures in the mid 80's.

We stopped on the way out of the inlet to purchase some live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait. Fifteen minutes later, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling the reefs with two plainers down and four surface baits. After pulling the hook on three Kingfish, it was time to do some kite fishing. We put out two kites with two live Goggles from each kite and one Shark bait on the bottom. Our first bite was from the Shark bait – after a five minute battle the Shark pulled the hook.

We reset again and this time the black shadow appeared on the left short kite - dorsal and bill out of the water chasing the live Goggle Eye frantically, finally capturing him – what a sight for the family to observe!!! Peter was our angler and he hopped into the fighting chair to do battle. The Sailfish came out of the water and tail-walked frantically, trying to dislodge the hook but with no success. Twenty-five minutes late, the Sailfish was caught, pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released. We reset for the third time – again the bottom rod bent over. Dash was our angler, positioned himself into the fighting chair and the battle was on. Forty minutes later, Dash brought the estimated 250 lbs. Bull Shark to the side of the boat – pictures were taken and the Shark was released to fight again.

With happy anglers, it was time to head back to the Bahia Mar Dock, located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. The family enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock in the a/c salon.
