A Good Start To July In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
July 1, 2022
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, I have a nice report this week so lets get started. July is probably one of the hottest months in Fort Lauderdale temperature wise but it also has had some great fishing too. Starting off on the inshore side of things trolling is a great way to produce some bites and also some quality fish too, bonito have some what ruled the reef as of late pretty much eating everything in sight, they are great fighters but not very good on the dinner table, but all in all still a great fish to catch, there are still kingfish around and it seems smaller fish have been shallower and larger fish have been deeper as deep as 300 feet. Daytime bottom fishing has been somewhat good on days with light current, lots of nice sized vermillion snapper have been the catch as well as some nice sized porgy, Large amberjack are still around on deep ship wrecks too, live bait is a must for these guys as well as heavy tackle, if your looking for a fight amberjack are strong and will test you to see what your made off. Moving offshore, still a good amount of blackfin tuna but early mornings are best for them depths outside of 250 feet have been best, there is also been a few wahoo in the larger class 40lbs and bigger, we caught a large one this week "pictured" while trolling for kingfish, just goes to show you never know what you will get. Last but not least still plenty of big game sharks around if your looking to do some trophy hunting now is a great time. Lots of options still around in Fort Lauderdale of things to catch, July is always a great time to do some deep sea fishing, anyways be sure to check out some of our photos this week of some recent catches we had during our deep sea fishing charters and remember to follow us on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Stay tuned for next weeks report I have a feeling it will be a good one.
