Steady Fising In June

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
June 9, 2023
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, so far the month of June has had some great fishing right here in the Fort Lauderdale area, early mornings have had the best weather flat calm and light winds, most afternoons have been a wash out due to afternoon showers but still great fishing. So this weeks report on the reef the main catch as of late has been kingfish and bonitos, some days mostly kings and some days mostly bonitos either way plenty of action for anyone specially on a half day trip. We have been doing alot of trolling as of late there hasn't been much wind and live bait was hard to find this week so in order to cover a good amount of water trolling has been the best bet. Since we have been catching alot of bonitos as of late we have been having fresh cut bonito strips daily and that has been the key when trolling to catch the kingfish. The bonitos have been very aggressive and will eat pretty much anything that moves. Also on the reef there has been a few mahi mahi and good size to, while trolling for kingfish every so often one of our surface baits has been getting a bite with a mahi. Last but not least to finish up on the reef the snapper fishing while anchored up has been very good, the only thing I can say that is important with that type of fishing is current and it must be moving in a northern direction. Anchoring up and using chum and light tackle has been a great way to catch a variety of fish lately, some of the species we have been catching on anchor would include, yellowtail snapper, black grouper, kingfish, and cero mackeral just to name a few. In order to do this type of fishing a 6 hour trip or longer is needed. Moving a little deeper the big game shark fishing has been somewhat consistent would be a good word for it, taking time at the end of your trip to target a shark is always a great way to end a trip with a bang. Sanbar and hammerhead sharks have been the norm but it is very possible to catch a bull shark or even a tiger shark. Last but not least on the offshore side there has been a few mahi mahi offshore but most have been undersize, in my opinion it is not convincing enough for me to go out there on the hunt just yet, im thinking in about another 2 weeks we should start to see a real showing on mahi right off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. This week be sure to check out some of the great photos we have of some recent catches caught during out deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale, also remember to like and or follow us on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. This week coming up we have some availability if your looking to do some deep sea fishing and in the fort Lauderdale area please look us up we would love to show you a great day on the water. Fishing the next few days so I hope to have another accurate report for you guys soon thanks for reading... more later...
