Swordfishing Off FOrt Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 16-18, 2016

It has been a while since I talked about swordfishing off Ft. Lauderdale but this weekend Lady Pamela II got into some swords worth talking about. We were daytime swordfishing in about 1200 feet of water on Friday and caught two out of three fish hooked up. The biggest of the pair was 145 lbs. This was not a monster fish but it sure produced a pile of nice fillets. We went back out on Saturday and hooked up two more fish. Unfortunately, the first one pulled off 30 feet from the boat and other hit was a drop off while the fish was still deep. We were already well offshore so we switched to lighter tackle and nailed a couple of nice mahi-mahi.

The rest of the week has been more the same with the red-hot mahi action. We have been averaging 5-10 fish at up to 25 lbs per four hour trip. We got one 35 pound fish on in the boat and also had a white marlin on for about 30 minutes. The next day we hooked up a yellowfin tuna but it threw the hook after a big run. There are a few kingfish and blackfin tuna also being caught out where the mahi have been seen.

Friday is already here, so we are gearing up for what looks to be a busy sportfishing weekend here in south Florida. Give us a call! Let's hook'em up!
