Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

March and April are a couple of the best months of the year for shark fishing in Fort Lauderdale. A dozen or more big game shark species all make a migration run through our waters this time of year. It's my favorite time to fish and we catch most of our biggest fish of our fishing year during this span of the shark migration.
Today's trip was awesome because we caught one of the rarest sharks that we ever get, a tiger shark. I fish every day and I have only managed to catch a couple tiger sharks in my life. This one was a monster, probably 9ft in length. We hooked the fish out in 350ft of water, the depth that we like to shark fish in. The fish ate the bottom bait about an hour into the fishing. We did battle with the fish for a little over an hour before we got him to the boat for pictures and release. It was a lot of fun this fish and I wish I could post the video on this site because the video was incredible. So glad we got to catch this big shark, I'll remember catching this fish for years to come.
We catch a great variety of sharks this time of year. Hammerhead sharks, makos, threshers, black tips, bulls, dusky, nurse, sand bar and last but not least, tiger. This is the time to get out there and fish for the biggest fish off the Fort Lauderdale coast. Tight Lines!
