Being Versatile In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here to start this weeks report we are going to talk about bottom fishing. As of late bottom fishing has been the best bet to put some fish in the cooler. Deep dropping for tilefish has been very productive and they are one of the best eating fish that you can catch here in the fort lauderdale area, unfortunately to catch them if you don't want to cheat and use an electric reel you have to earn them because they live so deep, as deep as 800 feet they are not easy to reel up manually by hand. Moving a little shallower the vermillion snapper have been biting well on deeper spots anywhere from 300 feet to 500 feet seems like with them the deeper you go the bigger they are, topping out at around 5lbs that still a very nice sized snapper and great for the dinner table as well. Moving little inshore from that anchoring up on the reef and chumming for yellowtail snapper has been a great way to put a variety of fish in the cooler too, while anchored up and chumming you can catch anything from snapper, grouper, mackeral, bonito, and a sailfish. When anchored up and chumming you are what I like to call building a spot, your making the fish come to you once that chum line gets established you are bringing fish in from all over including baitfish which interns brings predators. On the offshore side of things trolling has still been hit and miss just like last weeks report seems like its wahoo or bust, although there has been a few mahi mahi around this week. The last few days here in Fort Lauderdale have been windy and that should make some fish bite I would expect some mahi mahi, wahoo, and some sailfish to bite the next few days. This week be sure to check out some of our great pictures of recent catches we had during our deep sea fishing charters. Remember to follow us on social media platforms like Instagram and facebook for daily fishing reports and pictures. Even though fishing has been somewhat slow we still would love to show you a great time out on the water. Capt. Vinnie 9545594700
