11 wahoo on a half day fishing charter aboard the Mary B III? I can't believe it! That's 2 and a half wahoo per hour of fishing time. There are a lot of wahoo biting on our Fort Lauderdale fishing trips this month. They are plain ole' snapping! It's been a great month for wahoo in general but this past trip on our boat the Mary B III took the cake. We started catching them as soon as we threw the lines in the water. First 2 minutes of trolling and we were already hooked up with a double header wahoo. We kept trolling in the 220ft depth, just outside the reefs and the wahoo were biting one right after the other. It was a stellar day and we couldn't do anything wrong.

Our trip, a bachelor party made up of 13 guys had a blast. They hadn't ever experienced wahoo fishing in Fort Lauderdale like that before. Well, you gotta catch the fish while the fish are biting. It isn't often we get incredible wahoo fishing in Ft Lauderdale. A lot of things have to go right. First off, the time of year has a big play in that. This is the month where the wahoo and mahi mahi come in on the reef to do their spawning. So we timed it perfectly. Second, the New Moon has a lot to do with it. Wahoo love the full and new moon phases because of the big tide swing during that time of the month. And thirdly, you need some anglers that want to dedicate the trip to going for this elusive fish species. put all those things together and it has potential to make for some great wahoo action. Good luck fishing this week everyone. I'll sea ya on the water.
