Wreck Fishing In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
April 6, 2019
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today on the YB Normal Sportfishng charter out of beautiful Fort Lauderdale Florida we had a great crew from Baltimore Maryland, our client Bryan and his girlfriend as well as his mother and father had booked us for a deep sea fishing charter out of Fort Lauderdale, we shipped off around 8am sharp and made it out of port everglades inlet to the fishing grounds which are only 15 mins away to true deep sea fishing, We started out trolling with surface baits and 2 planners down looking for any kind of gamefish we could get, we caught a few bonitos to start right off the bat, bonito is a great fish to catch even though they don't taste great they are great fighters, we also caught a king mackerel on one of our planners which is the biggest in the mackerel family, we kept trolling for a little while longer and we had gotten a huge bite on one of our deep planners, which need up being a very large a trophy caliber barracuda, these fish are the definition of a true predator they have streamline bodies and are known for there impressive size teeth that they use to cut fish in half the barracuda was 40inches long an awsome fish to catch, we gave it another hour of trolling catching more fish mostly bonito but still lots of fun.
We then decided to take some live baits that I had and drop them on one of the deep shipwrecks sunken off the coast of fort Lauderdale, we dropped a live blue runner down and ended up getting a very large bite the whole crew fought the fish for a good 20min and ended up catching a very large almaco jack which is similar to and amberjack except there dorsal fin is much longer and wonderful fighting fish and very good eating as well, we decided to hit one more deep spot so we rigged up another live bait and dropped it and got an very quick bite and the fish was much larger and was fighting a lot harder, Brian and his family reeled up a 50inch golden amberjack what a catch! I was impressed what a trophy caliber fish the ambjack is a very hard fighting fish, probably one of the hardest fighting fish you can catch on a sunken shipwreck. Lots of high fives and smiles on everyones face and another great deep sea fishing charter aboard the YB Normal. We head back to the dock right near beautiful Fort Lauderdale beach dock the YB Normal and took the fish out of the cooler and got some great photos and wished everyone safe travels back home…

If your looking for a great deep sea fishing charter check out the YB Normal out of Fort Lauderdale Florida we would love to have you!
