Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

This morning we were excited to have a lovely family from Arkansas Charter the Reel Appeal! We got a jump on all the other boats and experienced a strong 3.5 knot south current as soon as we left the jetties. Captain Kunta and the Danimal decided to tie up at the balls and let the little ones catch some bait fish while we waited on the sky to liven up a bit. Their son had a blast reeling in butter fish, yellow tail, and a few ballyhoo. All the yellow tails were undersize and we released them back in the sea.
Then we headed out a bit past the #1 trying to catch mom a king fish and ended up catching around 8 bonitos. Dad and son had fun reeling in the bombers.

Dad then asked if we could try to find his son a bit more action and Captain Kunta and the Danimal set out to try their hardest.
Quickly, Danimal arranged for dad and son to land a few bullet bonitos and then Captain Kunta headed to the ledge.
Danimal Dropped the bonitos back in on two live bait rigs. The left rig got some attention and the bonito came loose. The right rig oddly came loose as well. Danimal was amazed. He quickly dipped the net in the in deck well and selected a butter fish and rigged another live bait rig and dropped the live bait in the sea. One pass by Captain Kunta on the inside of the ledge in and then back out was the ticket. Fish On! Their little son had the time of his life reeling in and fighting his sea monster! After about 30 minutes up came a bubblin' fat boy barracuda!

The whole family was over joyed with their son's performance and catch!
